The objective of Rotary Education Fund (REF) is to nurture and develop high-potential youths from low-income families, between the ages of 15-19, who desire to help themselves and their families, and become useful members of society by supporting their education holistically.
We believe that EDUCATION is the key to a better future.
THE ROTARY EDUCATION AWARD
The Rotary Education Award (REA) under REF is a multi-year, four-part programme consisting of Youth Mentorship, Leadership Training, Values Education, and Financial Assistance.
OUR VISION
Making a positive difference to young lives, by helping those who want to help themselves, and putting them on the start of the road to a better life.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- Help promising 15-19 year old students from low-income families, by providing financial assistance and personal mentoring support.
- Help the students to stay in full-time education, improve their grades and make appropriate tertiary education and career choices.
- Provide the students and their families with a network of tertiary education opportunities.
- Develop the students to their full potential by “being the best they can be.”
- Nurture the students into good citizens.
VALUES-BASED HOLISTIC EDUCATION
It is Value-Based because the program…
- Helps the student to value self, others and the environment through learning about humanitarian and ethical values.
- Helps the student discover himself, to be the best he can be and learn to take responsibility for his future.
- Encourages mentors to role model the values.
It is Holistic because the program helps the student…
- Find identity, purpose and meaning in life through connections to the community, to the natural world, and to humanitarian values.
- Have an intrinsic respect for life and a passionate love of learning.

The REF believes that no matter what circumstances you are in, if you have the right attitude, life will present you with opportunities. Help will be on the way and success will follow. All you need is:

Someone Cared Enough to Sponsor Sathes Kumar
Sathes Kumar Sandasegaran was a REF Awardee 2014 when he was in Form Five. Sathes subsequently completed his Foundation studies in 2015-2016 after the REF program. He has graduated with First Class Honours in the Petroleum Geoscience 4-year degree program at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Tronoh, Perak. He is currently a Reservoir Geophysicist at PETRONAS.
